Baroque Soirées » Description

Description

Baroque Soirées of the ensemble Collegium Marianum follow in the tradition of concert life in Prague’s Old Town, begun by Count Hartig in 1713. The thematic programs reflect the various forms of noble entertainment in baroque society and the sequence of celebrations of the liturgical year (Advent, Christmas, Shrove Tuesday, Easter). The programming focuses on bringing back to life the works of the old masters who worked in Bohemia or whose compositions have been preserved in Czech archives, as well as performances of the treasures of European music of the 17th and 18th centuries. Each year, research results in the presentation of several modern-day premieres of compositions of artistic merit that have resisted the changes of time. The Baroque Soirées are held on the historic premises of the former Servite Monastery on the street Melantrichova ulice, evoking the original atmosphere of musical gatherings in the early 18th century.
